Reimer’s mask is a continuation on his previous success mask

Toronto Maple Leafs
I am very proud to be James Reimer’s painter. This design is a continuation on his previous and enormously popular mask with lots of details that I got the honor to create. The design is a celebration of his childhood.

The paintings on the sides are very similar to the ones on the first mask, just some minor changes. On one side you see children playing hockey on a pond, and in the background you see a house with light in the windows, mother and father are waiting for the children to come in from the cold. I love to create paintings with much details that tell a story. This side I created like a motif in a children's book.

The other side is a tribute to James' favorite TV show Hockey Night. I painted Cherry and MacLean in blue tints in a layout on the side with glistening stars around. Around all this I put together a Maple Leafs design with the beautiful maple leaf and graphic lines that tie the whole together, creating a truly unique design. And if you look close, we have also incorporated a small celebration of Reimer’s fantastic fans on one side of the mask.

Check out James Reimer’s Toronto Maple Leafs mask now in the mask gallery and on the DAVEART Facebook page! Or in the DAVEART App for iPhone and Android.

Check out Zatkoff’s winning mask created by the fan and painted by me

Manchester Monarchs
Before the season Manchester Monarchs arranged a contest where the fans got to draw a mask design for Jeff Zatkoff to wear during the season. The winner was Nathaniel Goodwin, and I got the honor to paint the mask after Nathaniel's drawing.

It is an old school design with the logo on the top, and purple lion statues in stone, created as old school drawings on each side where they are sitting guarding their castle. A fun detail is the spears that are painted as extensions of the wire bars.

And as always the design is a discovery in extreme detail work. On the chin a classic pennant is flying in the wind and in the background you see mountains on one side and palm scenes as a greeting from LA on the other.

Now you can also win this mask that Jeff has worn every game during the season, go to the Monarchs website for more info.

Check out Jeff Zatkoff's Manchester Monarchs mask in our mask gallery and on Facebook, or in the so popular App!

Classic lines in Neuvirth’s new Caps design

Washington Capitals
It is very exciting to create Michal Neuvirth's mask designs. Lots of details with a nice flow and cool DAVEART 3-D PaintTech in a sweet mix. This design is a continuation on his previous mask where the Caps wings spread over the sides watching over the mask.

One side is devoted to Michal's hometown in the Czech Republic, with the fortress and the guarding lion from the Czech National Team coat of arms. The other side is devoted to his new hometown Washington and features buildings and an eagle in attack.

The rest of the design is a symphony of lines and play inspired by the Caps colors and the red-white chess pattern from the Czech coat of arms.

New sweet movie contest!

The Other Guys
Time to present a new sweet movie contest together with my friends at Sony! Answer the question and you may win the comedy "The Other Guys" on Blu-ray...

Contest question: Mark Wahlberg's brother can be seen in one of my favorite horror movies with Bruce Willis in the leading role, what's the name of the movie?

E-mail the answer to contest@daveart.com before April 15 and you may be one of the five happy winners!

NYPD Detectives Christopher Danson and P.K. Highsmith (Dwayne Johnson and Samuel L. Jackson) are the baddest and most beloved cops in New York City. They don't get tattoos - other men get tattoos of them. Two desks over and one back, sit Detectives Allen Gamble (Will Ferrell) and Terry Hoitz (Mark Wahlberg). You've seen them in the background of photos of Danson and Highsmith, out of focus and eyes closed. They're not heroes - they're "the Other Guys".

Even the rubber duck has turned into a zombie on Ellis’ new Zombie Ducks mask

Anaheim Ducks
Wow, the zombie ducks occupy Anaheim...watch out! The top of the mask turns into a bodybag, and when the zipper opens up all the way to the chin, out from the bodybag comes a badass zombie duck with a mask! His eyes are burning of madness!

More zombie ducks show up on each side of the mask...and these zombies are really of a new kind, cause they can handle weapons...a hockey stick and a chain saw! Even the classic Ducks logo on the side has turned into a zombie, check out the bloodshot eyes... Oh no, even the cute little rubber duck on the side has turned into a badass zombie!

I cannot tell you enough how funny it is to paint masks for Dan Ellis... :-) But I can tell you where to check it out, in the mask gallery and on Facebook!

Henrik Lundqvist’s new mask with lots of DAVEART XXFX

New York Rangers
I have painted for Henrik Lundqvist for more than 13 years, and together we have have developed his designs throught the years, and it has been an amazing journey. We continue with the same contrast-rich and speed-filled theme that has become Henrik's signum, with a close connection to the Rangers and of course with the Statue Of Liberty.

This design is a direct continuation on Henrik's previous mask design that was so popular. Here we have added a greeting to Henrik's mask designs back in the days when he played for Frölunda in Sweden, that is DAVEART XXFX glitter effects! Lots of glitter in the design makes it stand out in an extra-ordinary way, just like it should when you are the King Of Manhattan.

Clean lines tie whole together and make it a clear experience when seen from a long distance, but when you check it more close you discover a new world of extreme detail work. DAVEART Holographix FX lifts the 3-D feeling, and the lightning is a natural ingredient that electrifies the design.

Magic purple flames on Jones’ new mask

Los Angeles Kings
Martin Jones’ mask design is a classically created and clear design with clean distinct lines that tie the LA Kings graphics together, and behind the Monarchs lion shows up. Martin and I made this design together. An interesting way to mix two teams in one design. The design is inspired by the Kings white jersey, and magic purple flames frame the design and add action to the whole. As always an extreme detail work that lifts the design, and the DAVEART Holographix FX brings depth.

Check it out now in the mask gallery here on the site or on Facebook, or in our App!

Dragon war on Irving’s mask

Calgary Flames
Leland Irving had a very cool idea for his new mask, and I was very happy when he contacted me to get it done. He wanted a tribute design to one of his favorite mask designs from his childhood, that is McLean's classic design from the mid 90s. This design is inspired by McLean's design with the checkered pattern on the top, and red, black and silver base, and a dragon on each side. But we turned up the heat, big time, and created this mix of old school with top modern effects!

From a long distance this design makes perfect thanks to the distinct color combinations and strong contrasts in the basic design, but when you check it out more close a new world of details and story telling is opened!

On each side I created a close-up of a dragon, really cocky...and with claws like Wolverine... One of them is fighting with a hockey stick, and is enjoying a big cigar...as a dragon would need extra smoke... They fight against the big nasty dragons flying over the mountains in the background, now you know why the mask design is named Dragon War! Full of action! There's smoke from the lava around them, and speaking of that, watch out! On one side the volcano is about to erupt, it's coming smoke from it!

The rest of the design is created in old school spirit. On the chin a knights pennant with the name is flying in the wind. With extremely much detail work and 3-D effects this design is an experience in detail richness.

Lindbäck’s new Predators mask with glittering letters

Nashville Predators
This design is a graphic play with the so cool logos of the Predators, and is a continuation of Anders' previous design, but here completely in Preds theme! It’s always great fun to create Anders' designs. We discussed some design solutions back and forth before we came up with this design.

On the top of the mask the Pred logo rules, painted vertically just like on the previous mask. The rest of the design is a symphony of glittering graphics with XXFX glittering P logos in a whirling pattern. Anders also wanted the tower from the arena on one side. The blue base lifts the graphics and 3-D effects. And as usual when I have been in action lots of detail work, that is best experienced really close... :-)
