Bobrovsky´s Winter Classic mask a tribute to the town of Philadelphia

Philadelphia Flyers - Winter Classic

Today we have the honor to present the Philadelphia Flyers goalie Sergei Bobrovsky´s Winter Classic mask. It was so fun to create this design. Sergei wanted his design to be a tribute to the fantastic town of Philadelphia. I loved the idea.

The design is created as a classic and worthy retro design, with the Flyers wings spreading out on each side, and everything connected with Flyers´ beautiful Winter Classic jersey. And when you come closer you discover a new world of extreme detailed paintings from the town of Philadelphia and a new design is created in front of your eyes.

I painted the motifs in a sketchy documentary style to give a retro feeling to the theme. You find the Liberty Bell and a painting of the Philadelphia skyline with the bridge to Philadelphia, and also a painting of downtown Philadelphia, and the Independence Hall, and of course the Declaration of Independence, and when you look close at the document you will see the famous date.

In the snowfall all over the mask with old school snow stars in different shapes, you will also see some different snow stars as well, some with the shape of Flyers logos and some as small Russian Babuschka dolls, as a little salute to Bobrovsky´s homeland.

Welcome to check out the mask in the mask gallery or on our Facebook page, or in the DAVEART App. The App is for iPhone, iPad and Android, and is free to download from the App Store and Market.

Johnson´s new Rangers mask

New York Rangers

I´m very happy to welcome Chad Johnson of the New York Rangers to our team and to present my first artwork for him. Chad knew exactly what he wanted and it was so fun to create it. It´s a clean design in retro style with clear colors, a tribute to the beautiful logos of New York Rangers and a tribute to the city of New York.

The themes are carefully mixed together to a retro styled design with the logos and the skyline of New York with a glittering sky. From a distance the design is clear and crisp, and when you come closer you enter a new dimension of detail work all over the mask, with lots and lots of metallic glitter creating a depth in the design together with the DAVEART Holographix FX.

Welcome to check out Chad Johnson´s Rangers mask in the mask gallery, on Facebook or in the DAVEART App.

DiPietro´s new mask a tribute to his father and USA

New York Islanders

It is so incredibly exciting to create the mask artworks for my friend, the New York Islanders keeper Rick DiPietro. Once again the theme of the mask is military to honor his father who was a helicopter pilot in the Vietnam war.

And once again we wanted to do something totally new, think outside the box, but with the same theme. This design concept I came up with and sketched when I sat at Heathrow airport waiting for my plane.

The design is a so called 2 designs in 1, and also a storyteller-design. The design is built on two lines, the orange and blue lines inspired from the white Islanders jersey. I painted them winding around the mask, almost like a flag flying in the wind, it gives a very cool design when you look at the mask from a distance. And I added white stars in the blue to give a feeling of the US flag. Then, when you come closer you will discover all the details and a new design is created in front of your eyes.

On one side the helicopter again is in focus, this time I painted it in a sketchy documentary style. I love to paint in new styles, never stand still. Rick also wanted his dog in the design, I painted the dog as a soldier on the other side.

Then all over the mask I created a detailed map of artworks as a tribute to USA. I love to do a lot of research for every mask. It is all painted in that sketchy style. I love to create lots and lots of details, here on this mask you will find famous statues, soldiers, action shots, even parts of the Memorial Wall and much much more. On the chin is Rick´s own logo I created for him a couple of years ago.

I remember when I made the first mask for Rick some years ago. I wanted to do the design in a totally new way, something never done before. Rick was so happy when he got it. When we presented it my mailbox almost exploded of all the mails I got, I was so happy. And it has been the same after every new design I have made for Rick.

Welcome to check out Rick DiPietro´s New York Islanders mask design in the mask gallery and on Facebook. And in the App for iPhone, iPad and Android of course...

Jack Campbell turns into Captain America

Team USA

I am very honored to be Team USA´s goalie Jack Campbell´s official painter. Today we have the pleasure to present his Team USA mask. I was so happy when Jack wanted me to do his Team USA mask for the Junior World Championship, such an honor.

We talked about different cool ideas, and what could be more cool for a Team USA mask than to have Captain America on it? Oh man, it was so fun to paint it. I mixed the design with paintings from both the movie and the comic, it´s a tribute to both the older Captain America fans that read the comic and younger fans that are more familiar with the movie.

It was also extra special for me to paint this mask because Stan Lee is one of my biggest idols, when I got his autograph I was totally blown away. This mask is also a tribute to him.

In focus of the mask in the middle is the letter A, when Jack puts the mask on he turns into Captain America and Team USA is actually having Captain America in the net.

Just as usual I love to spend time creating lots of details to be discovered all over the mask. It was so fun to paint it. Thanks Jack for being your painter and friend.

You´re all welcome to check out Jack Campbell's Team USA mask in the mask gallery or in the App, or on Facebook. Thanks for your interest.

Lundqvist´s Winter Classic mask takes us back in time

New York Rangers

The New York Rangers star keeper Henrik Lundqvist´s Winter Classic mask is here. It is a time machine that takes us on a journey back in time. This is mask art in a vintage style in a totally new way, the Lundqvist way.

Henrik had a vision how to make a mask that looks really old...and not just old, it should also look as it has been used, not only used but heavily used for many, many years... A mask that looks so old, that it seems to have been laying at an attic for many, many decades... It is dusty, it is sun bleached, there is even rust around the screws... Heavily used...with lots of scratches and chippings...and puck marks...and marks from the crossbar... This mask has its own history from all the games it has experienced... It was so much fun to create this design.

The feeling over the mask should be like when you were a kid, and you were at grandmas and grandpas place, and you were on a treasure hunt in the attic to find cool old stuff, and among all those cool old stuff you found this piece... A mask with a history.

When we talked about the design I made som concept drawings for Henrik and he loved it and I started right way. The base design I created is very vintage styled in both layout and colors, creamy colors with a strong connection to the Winter Classic jersey. And I also added a lot of cool 3-D effects just to mix the styles, and just as usual, lots and lots of details to discover all over the mask.

To create this mask was a lifetime memory. You can check it out in the mask gallery, on the Facebook page and in the App. Hope you enjoy it.

A guardian dragon on Irving´s new Flames mask

Calgary Flames

A guardian dragon fits perfect on a mask for a goalie guarding the net. The Calgary Flames keeper Leland Irving had such a cool classic idea. I created the dragon winding around the mask, no puck wanna go there... The whole design is painted in a very old school style, white base, and the dragon is inspired from old school tattoo style. The flames around the mask and the script on the chin are also very old school.

Dragons are a perfect theme on a mask. Check out Leland´s last mask on the site. This new dragon I created in a totally different style compared to the previous. I love to change paint styles from day to day when I paint, depending on what style and feeling the designs needs. When I made the early sketches for this one I was very inspired by old school tattoo styles.

This asymmetric winding design with so different sides gives a cool effect when the mask is turn side to side. Just as usual it is painted with extreme details to be discovered all over the mask, and DAVEART Holographix FX gives sweet 3-D effects, spiced with metallic glitter and golden fadings.

Among the details I also painted a sky on the side with a bomber plane flying, that is a tribute to Leland´s uncle that passed away this summer. Welcome to check out Leland Irving´s Calgary Flames mask , and thank you for your interest.

Gameday in Anaheim

Anaheim Ducks

Gameday in Anaheim is the name of the Anaheim Ducks keeper Jeff Deslauriers´ new mask. Jeff had such a cool idea for the mask and I loved it at once. He really likes the classic photo of the goalie Ken Dryden leaning on his stick. How about painting a duck goalie in that same cool pose? Around that idea I then created a theme with ducks playing hockey, mixed with an action packed graphic design from the Ducks uniforms, and just as usual lots and lots of details to discover all over the mask.

So all over the mask i painted ducks playing hockey, and when ducks play hockey it is with great speed and action, just check out the ducks skating on the side... And check out that drooling Ducks goalie bursting out from the mask...he just saved the puck with his mouth, that is what I call badass goalie... :) They play with such incredible speed it is duck feathers flying all over the mask. And watch out for those feathers... they will return on more Ducks masks... I cannot tell you enough how fun it was to create this design for Jeff Deslauriers.

Check it out in the mask gallery and on Facebook, or in the App for iPhone, iPad and Android.

Vokoun´s next P.O.T.U.S mask

Washington Capitals

Today we have the honor to present the Washington Capitals goalie Tomas Vokoun´s latest mask artwork I have made for him. I am very proud to paint for Tomas and the first P.O.T.U.S mask I made for him made such a success, so this new design is a continuation. This one have the same basic lines, but the first mask was more in white to fit the white jersey, while this design is more red to fit the red uniform.

The design is an effective so called 2 in 1 design. From a distance it is a classic almost retro design with the Caps wings spreading out and strong contrasts and clear colors. But when you come closer it enters a new dimension of extreme detail work. Again the theme of the mask is The President Of the United States. Here and there all over the mask you will discover small artworks with the President. I came up with the design idea this summer when I walked around our local lake, I created every detail in my mind. When I told Tomas my design ideas he immediately gave me green light to start.

On the right side I painted many small Presidents in subtle colors, I painted them in a very old style, almost like on a canvas, I even created the White House, and President statues...and on the left side I painted parts of the Memorial Wall, and an American eagle, and much more. Goalies love details and designs telling a story, and I love to create it. I am so thankful to be able to do this as a living. I´ve been working with this for 15 years now and it is a joy to go to work and create new paintings every day. Hope you enjoy this one. Thank you for your interest.

Lightning theme on Janus´ mask

Tampa Bay Lightning

We welcome Tampa Bay Lightning´s keeper Jaroslav Janus to our team. I had so fun when I created his new mask design. The theme on the mask is one thing and one thing only: lightning! All lighting bolts on the mask are created with lots and lots of metallic glitter, so that they really pop and stand out even when you see them from a distance.

Around this I created an old school design with the cool new Tampa logo and Zeus getting ready to throw some lighting bolts. And as usual I have spiced up the design with lots of details to discover, and also DAVEART Holographix FX and metallic glitter.

Welcome to check out Jaroslav Janus´ Tampa Bay Lightning mask in the mask gallery.

Bernier´s new vintage mask

Los Angeles Kings

Today we have the honor to present the Los Angeles Kings keeper Jonathan Bernier´s new vintage mask, created for the alternate uniform. It is so fun and creative to paint for Jonathan Bernier, and the previous LA mask I created for Jonathan was chosen by Kevin Weekes as the # 1 of all masks in the NHL. This design is very different from Jonathan´s other LA masks where he always wants the lion face on the top. This design is very unique, it is created with the vintage colors in yellow and purple, and the design is just as last years vintage mask a tribute to the LA Kings goalie legend Rogie Vachon.

When you look on the mask from a distance it is a very old school design, crisp and clean. And when you come closer you discover a new world of details that tie the whole together. It also connects with Jonathan´s previous LA masks. On one side I created an artwork with Vachon, I painted him in action together with his old school hockey card, and his signature and number. You also find details from Jonathan´s earlier masks, and as usual lots and lots of details and 3-D effects. I love to put a lot of thought into every detail.

Welcome to check it out in the mask gallery or on our Facebook page, or in the App for iPhone, iPad and Android. Thanks for your interest.

The Monster Rocker mask

Toronto Maple Leafs

I have painted for the Toronto Maple Leafs goalie Jonas Gustavsson since he was a kid. It is an honor for me to follow a goalie through his career and evolve the mask designs from year to year.

I remember one of the first masks I painted for a young Jonas when he played in AIK in Sweden, it was a design with badass rats guarding a castle. AIK is called the rats, and they have a castle in the logo. Then later when Jonas played in Färjestad we started to do more monster styled designs, I created an octopus styled monster he used on a couple of masks during his time in Färjestad.

Then when Jonas moved to Toronto I came up with the idea how to mix a leaf with a monster cause of his nickname. Jonas liked my sketches and after that it has been many Monster leaf masks... I´m very proud to paint for Jonas and show it to the fantastic fans of the Maple Leafs.

This design idea I came up with last spring, with the monster leaf super big all over the mask, so Jonas becomes a monster leaf with this on his head...watch out! Jonas also wanted a tribute to the fantastic town of Toronto, so in the background I created the Toronto skyline with the CN Tower. I´ve been in the tower myself to do research... :)

Welcome to check out Jonas Gustavsson´s The Monster Rocker mask in the mask gallery, if you dare... :)

Boone becomes a fighter jet pilot

Winnipeg Jets

The Winnipeg Jets goalie Peter Mannino always wants the cute mascot Boone from his school years on the mask. I love when a character follows a goalie through the career, and to evolve the character from year to year. I have painted for Peter for a couple of years and we have placed Boone in all kind of situations on his masks, from a fisherman or transformed him into a bird when Peter played in Atlanta Thrashers... Now when Peter plays with Winnipeg Jets, the immediate idea was to create Boone as a fighter jet pilot. So I dressed him up in a pilot outfit and gave him a cute fighter plane to fly with... :)

Around this I created an effective, crisp and clear Jets design with the red leaf in focus. I also created the body of the mask as the body of a plane with nits and metal effects. The metal has been torn open, Boone has to fly carefully... The design of the mask is also mixed with a design connection to Peters pads. And as usual, lots and lots of details.

As you can see I had lots of fun when I created Peter Mannino's Winnipeg Jets mask design a hot summer day. Welcome to check it out in the mask gallery and on Facebook.

Flames and graphic demon eyes on Karlsson´s new Flames mask

Calgary Flames

I love to always evolve new design ideas. During the hot summer I came up with the idea how to create 2 flame designs in 1. With black classic flames coming from the back of the mask very interesting effects are achieved. From distance the red base also turns into unique red flames from the front of the mask. A cool way how to create a "2 in 1 design". The Calgary Flames keeper Henrik Karlsson loved my ideas and I started to paint.

In the front of the mask I also painted graphic lines that are inspired by the jersey, and I placed them so that from the front they feel like angry demon eyes. Gives a cool personality and profile to the mask.

I created the design with lots and lots of 3-D effects and metallic glitter, with sweet small lightning effects giving cool action. And on the chin the Calgary Tower, Karlsson´s nickname...

Welcome to check out Henrik Karlsson's Calgary Flames mask in the mask gallery, hope you enjoy it. Thanks for your interest.

Watch out, Dex is shooting cannon balls

Columbus Blue Jackets

Watch out folks, Dex is shooting cannon balls with his civil war cannon... He has just lit the match and is ready to shoot again. He has already fired a bunch of cannon balls...check out the other side of the mask, it is cannon ball holes all over...

As you can see I had a lot of fun creating this design for Columbus Blue Jackets goalie Mark Dekanich. I have painted for Mark for many years, and he always wants this dude on his masks... I have created this Dex dude in many different situations on the masks, and now when Mark moved to Columbus I came up with the idea to have Dex play with a civil war cannon...and waving a Blue Jackets flag... Mark loved the idea and I started to paint. As usual I painted it with lots of cool details and metallic glitter, giving sweet action to the design.

Welcome to check Mark Decanich's new Dex mask and more Dex masks that I´ve created in the mask gallery, you also find some of them on our Facebook page.

Leighton pays homage to Flyers hockey legends

Philadelphia Flyers

Today we are very happy to present Mike Leighton´s new Philadelphia Flyers mask. The design is a continuation from last season´s Broad Street Bullies tribute mask, which made huge success when we presented it and my mailbox almost exploded. When I created that design I wanted to come up with something totally new, I love to create designs in new styles and think outside the box.

This new design is totally different, but still in the old school style, and is a tribute to three legendary Flyers goalies. The design is named after their numbers. I created them on the sides with old school oil paint tech, both action shots and portraits. And yes the arrow on the top is also a tribute to a Flyers goalie legend. I put a lot of thinking behind every detail, as always... :)

From a distance the design is an old school design with great contrasts, and when you come closer a new world of details and story telling opens up. An old school design spiced up with 3-D effects and metallic effects.

Welcome to check it out in the mask gallery, the App and on Facebook. Thanks for your interest.

Glitter on Nilsson´s new Islanders mask

New York Islanders

Today we have the pleasure to present Anders Nilsson´s new New York Islanders mask. I have painted for Anders for many years, and we have talked many times about doing a lot of glitter on his mask. Now on his first NHL mask we felt it was time. Anders wanted a graphic and clean design with a lot of white, and the Islanders logo in a cool pattern all over the mask.

I put together a design concept for him and he immediately gave me thumbs up, and I created this in the middle of the hot summer. The painted cage is a thing I and Anders have made on many of his masks.

Welcome to check out the mask in the mask gallery, on Facebook or in the App. Thanks.

Brad Paisley on Pasquale´s new mask

Winnipeg Jets

Today we have the pleasure to present Ed Pasquale´s new Winnipeg Jets mask. Ed had a very cool idea, he wanted to pay tribute his favorite music artist Brad Paisley. I immediately started to think and plan for the design. I love to create calm mask designs, it doesn´t need to be a lot of action to deliver. I am also just as Ed a big fan of Paisley, and I sketched a design that I felt was in the same style as Paisley´s music. I came up with the concept and Ed gave me green light to start.

One side I created as a tribute to Brad Paisley, old school airbrush paint mixed with artworks created in sketchy style give a nice calm balance to the design, spiced up with lots and lots of details to discover when you come closer.

The rest of the design is a clean team design with a lot of 3-D effects. On the chin area I painted the mountains from the IceCaps logo and created it as a landscape line with a sky above with glittering stars. Details I love to do.

Hope you enjoy it, you are welcome to check it out in the mask gallery. Thank you for your interest.

Auld turns into a centurion soldier in his new mask

Ottawa Senators

Today we have the pleasure to present Alex Auld´s new Ottawa Senators mask.

When I created Auld´s mask for Montreal Canadiens last season my mailbox almost exploded of mails from hockeyfans all over the world. Alex had seen my paint for a long time and wanted me to paint for him. It was so fun to create that artwork with old school oil paint tech.

When Auld signed with Ottawa this summer he contacted me the same day. I was very excited. Alex knew what kind of design he wanted and it sounded so cool. I created the layout and design plan in the middle of the hot summer.

The whole mask is painted as the centurion helmet in the Ottawa logo, and to make it more unique I came up with a bunch of ideas to spice it up. Glittering leafs, the cape of the soldier blowing in the wind, and when you come really close you will discover the reflections in the helmet from a statue of Caesar and the Coliseum, and also a centurion soldier. Details I love to create.

Hope you will enjoy it. Check it out in the mask gallery, on Facebook or in the App for iPhone, Android and iPad!

The Rambo rubber duck is going to get squeezed...!

Anaheim Ducks

It's so much fun to paint for Dan Ellis, he wants designs with humour and lots and lots of details. When Dan moved to Anaheim I first made an orange Ducks mask to connect with the orange uniform, the Zombie-mask, and then a mask for the black uniform, the Pirate mask. Check them out on the site... And now the mask for the white uniform...

Let us present the Combat Marine Ducks mask! Dan Ellis wanted to pay tribute to the US army on this mask.

The Ducks are back again, this time as Combat Marines... and as you can see I had a lot of fun creating this design. Dan Ellis is a very skilled artist himself and draws a lot and showed me some sketches, and from there I continued. On one side a Duck is driving the humwee, with great speed, but watch out, there is that rubber duck again... and this time with a red Rambo bandana... Check out the rubber duck on the other masks... :-)

On the other side another Duck is dropped off from the helicopter and he is ready with his bazooka, and watch out, the power switch on the bazooka is turned to "On"...

On the chin Dan's name on a marksmen badge, and on the top fighter jets, just to mention some of the details... Check it out in the mask gallery or on Facebook!

Raycroft's new Dallas mask in retro style with extreme detail job

Dallas Stars

Andrew Raycroft's new Dallas Stars mask goes in the same style as his previous mask designs that I have created for him since he came to Dallas. This design I created a hot, hot day this summer.

I love to evolve new design solutions and balance with color effects. The mohawk lines that I have evolved through the years works perfect with the Dallas colors, and I spiced it up with 3-D effects and DAVEART Holographix FX and green ghost smoke.

The design is a so called 2 designs in 1, from a distance you see a classic retro design, and when you come closer you discover a new world of details.

Welcome to check it out in the mask gallery and on Facebook.

DAVEART proudly presents iMask Studio

iMask Studio

We proudly present iMask Studio, a new revolutionary service and webshop from DAVEART.

iMask is a new revolutionary technology to get your goalie mask designed by DAVEART. Just as David Gunnarsson's world-famous designs, each iMask design is created uniquely for each goalie, with the same accuracy and detail. The designs are created in digital HD format in a virtual environment. Some designs are created entirely digitally from scratch while others are based on original airbrush paintings by David Gunnarsson transferred to digital format and adapted to the goalkeeper's wishes.

After the goalkeeper has seen the unique design on the computer screen, the design is molded onto the mask on a special microfilm, which is a real handicraft since no mask model is the same. A specially developed lamination seals the design and makes it impact-resistant and durable.

iMask Team Design

The new technology gives many advantages, especially extremely low prices and incredibly fast production. Price from 2895 SEK for a complete true professional design from DAVEART with a production time of about three weeks!

Other benefits of this revolutionary technology is that you can quickly and easily change the design on mask in the middle of the burning season. And with the extremely affordable price, you can design all of your masks, and just like the pros go with a special home and away mask.

The iMask Studio website is also a webshop with goalie masks and accessories from some of the world's premier goalie mask manufacturers.

The webshop is at the moment focused on Europe, but we will launch a North American shop soon. For the time being North American customers can order in the European webshop, just notice that the default prices include 25% VAT that North American customers don't need to pay. At checkout and login prices are automatically adjusted.

Welcome to visit the iMask Studio website!

Holtby's mask transformed into a rollercoaster ride...

Washington Capitals

How about transforming a mask into a rollercoaster ride? Sounds like fun! Braden Holtby had an awesome idea to put a rollercoaster ride on his mask, cause in Hershey there is a sweet amusement park. So I came up with this design with a mix of Hershey and Caps theme... :-)

Since it's a Hershey mask it's a bear in the ride, and the ride is running with super speed all over the mask. Hey, thats a really cool bear, he thinks the ride is nothing, he's just sitting there whistling...

The bear is also, of course, a goalie bear... his facemask is flying off in the high speed ride. And not only that, maybe the bear looks kind, but look again... this goalie bear is a real badass bear... :-) He has a black eye, bruises and scars... He must have been in a number of fights... Don't mess with him...

Everything painted with lots and lots of details and 3-D effects, just us a usual. The ride I created as an old school ride made of wood...

Check out Braden Holtby's Caps mask in the mask gallery or in the App!

Skulls and flames...

CAlgary Flames

It was so exciting to create Joni Ortio's new Calgary Flames mask look. I came up with this really scary design, and Joni gave me thumbs up and I started. I created the design as a so called 2 designs in 1. The mask as a whole is transformed into a scary skull, with the teeth on the lower part and badass stitches on the crashed skull on the top... a really dirty look, and on each side I created a bad skull giving action to the design...

A design that works both from a distance and up close with all the details. I love to paint details that make the designs more interesting.

Check out Joni Ortio's Calgary Flames design in the mask gallery and on Facebook. Or in the App!

Dubnyk's new mask in a new style

Edmonton Oilers

We are very proud to welcome Edmonton Oilers' goalie Devan Dubnyk as a member of our team. He had seen my paintings and wanted my help for his new mask look. A dream project! I love to always create and come up with new design styles and ideas, never stand still, thats my thing... :-) We talked about different design ideas and Devan had an awesome idea how he wanted a razor sharp design with kind of flames inspired things, with a sweet Oilers feeling.

I came up with this hybrid of 3-D waving flames mixed with oil drops, and created in an old school style with extreme detail job. A design to discover both from a distance, and up close with a world of details. The metallic colors give nice effects and make it a design that feels like Edmonton to 100%. And as always very cool details on the backplate.

Check out Devan Bubnyk's Edmonton Oilers mask in the mask gallery, on Facebook, or in the App...

PredClassic is the name of Lindbäck's new Predators mask

Nashville Predators

Anders Lindbäck's new Nashville mask I named PredClassic, and that is really what it is. Really classic, crisp and clean. The design style continues in the same style as his previous Nashville masks, with the Predator logo vertical on the top, and around it a sharp old school design, in Nashville's new colors. Here you also find the new cool alternate logo, and the antenna from the Arena, just as before.

Everything created just as usual with extreme detail work and 3-D effects, just what I love to do, added with the incredibly popular DAVEART Holographic FX.

Check out Anders Lindbäck's Nashville Predators mask in the mask gallery, on Facebook or in the App!

Today we have the pleasure to present Johan ”Moose” Hedberg's new Moose mask. Oh man, the years really go by... now it is 10 years ago I created the first Moose mask for Johan that gave him the nickname Moose... :) Maaany Moose masks have been created after that, in all kind of different styles...

This one Johan and I created in true old school style. Strong graphics with the Devils profile and logos, with strong connections to the uniform. Of course, as usual, lots and lots of details that you will see when you look close, for example a cool Devils logo pattern in sketchy style in the white base. But from a distance it's an old school design.

The Moose pops up on each side of the mask...once again dressed up in a Devils suit... watch out! That fork looks sharp...

James Reimer's new mask in retro paint style

Toronto Maple Leafs

Today we have the great pleasure to present the Toronto Maple Leafs keeper James Reimer's new mask. It is so incredibly fun to create James' new mask designs. The story telling designs I created for him last year were big successes, my mailbox almost exploded of mails from James' fans. I love to create mask designs telling a story.

In this new design we tested a new style in the paintings, I created them in a retro style with old school oil paint tech, with a brush. I love to always paint with different styles and techniques.

The design is a kind of mix of James' last Toronto masks and his Team Canada mask I created for him for the World Championships. The layout with the leaf on each side creates an old school design just as the Team Canada mask. The theme is the same as on last year's Toronto mask, with paintings from James' childhood. This time painted using just an old school brush, that gives a cool retro feeling to the design.

On one side James as a kid playing hockey home at the pond, and when you look close you discover a new world of details, you see the forest in the background and the house were they are waiting for James and his friends to come inside. And on the other side once again Cherry and McLean with their hockey show painted with old school oil paint tech. James remembers how he watched it when he was a kid.

Around this theme I created an old school Toronto design, and lots and lots of details to discover when you come closer. I love to create designs that transforms into another design when you come closer and a new dimension appears in front of your eyes.

And just as last season Jesus is on the backplate, also painted with old school oil paint tech this time.

Theodore's family as panthers on his Florida mask

Florida Panthers

Jose Theodore had such a cool idea for his new mask for his new team Florida Panthers. He wanted his own family on the mask, created as panthers...such a cool idea! I started to sketch the design at once... We came up with the idea to place the Theo family in a typical Florida environment, on the beach... :-) I love to always change style and paint new styles every day. This would be a very funny design.

So I painted the family just having a nice time on the beach. Theo himself as a big panther is lying on the beach with his cool sunglasses, drinking a cold soda, and with his daughter climbing on him. His goalie mask is of course by his side. And his wife on the other side of the mask, or beach.

Just as usual the design is created with lots and lots of details and 3-D effects, mixed with cool Florida Panthers graphics. Check out Jose Theodores Florida Panthers mask in the mask gallery on the site, in the DAVEART App or on DAVEART's Facebook page. We will present more Florida masks very soon!

Fighter jets on Bobrovsky's new Flyers mask

Philadelphia Flyers

Today we have the great pleasure to present Sergei Bobrovsky's new Philadelphia Flyers mask. The entire mask is painted like an orange brickwall with stucco finish... The stucco is falling apart, and the orange bricks are shown, but it's still a brickwall. On the brickwall you find the Flyers logo, painted as a poster put on the wall. You also find graffiti painting, Bobrovsky's name is spray painted on the brickwall...

On the other side of the mask the action starts, and just as last season you find a Russian and a US fighter jet. They are flying side by side and burst through the orange brickwall. And just as usual extreme detail work, in the background you see buildings from both Kreml and from Sergei's hometown, and lots and lots of 3-D effects all over the mask, with both metallic glitter and DAVEART Holographix FX.

Check out Sergei Bobrovsky's Flyers mask in the mask gallery or on the DAVEART Facebook page! Or in the App...

Asian mysticism with the Three Storms glowing in the dark on Budaj's new mask

Montreal Canadiens

Today we have the pleasure to present Peter Budaj's new Montreal Canadiens mask. Peter had such a cool idea for this one... He wanted the Three Storms, the three Asian super wizards with the mega hats from the super movie Big Trouble in Little China... :-) He also wanted Asian mysticism all over the mask, mixed with an old school Habs design.

So exciting to create! One Storm is standing on each side of the mask shooting magic bolts. And all bolts in the design are glowing in the dark! Yes! And just as usual, when you come closer you enter a new dimension of details to discover. You find Chinese stone dragons with glowing eyes, and an Asian script rolled up on the chin of the mask in a cool 3-D way where you find Peter's player number. You also find a cool Chinese lion guardian in the front of the mask, and if you look close in the white lines of the mask you find small dragons and ying and yang.

You may wonder where the third Storm wizard is, well look at the backplate...

Go to the mask gallery to check out Peter Budaj's Montreal Canadiens mask, or our Facebook page or the DAVEART App. More Habs masks to present soon!

Music is the theme on Bishop's new mask

St Louis Blues

We're happy to welcome Ben Bishop as a DAVEART client. Ben wanted me to create a design that is a tribute to the club of St Louis Blues with it's so beautiful logos and colors. He also wanted to include the old Arena of St Louis.

The design is totally inspired by music and the waves of music, we wanted it to feel like music. So I created it with playfulness, and the design floats in music lines. The white area on the side are inspired both from the jersey and from a music book with its notes, and around yellow waving lines inspired by the jersey are playing, with even more music notes. The yellow lines are of course five on the mask, just as the lines in music.

Everything created with balance and 3D and extreme detail work, a design to discover both from a distance and up close. The old arena is created in a sketchy style in the white area, and if you look close in the blue tones you will find music notes play even in the blue metallic...

Enroth continues with his old school design

Buffalo Sabres

Today we have the pleasure to present the Buffalo Sabres keeper Jhonas Enroth's new mask look. The design is a continuation of his previous designs that Jhonas and I have created and evolved from the time when he played in the Swedish Elitserien.

The mask is divided in the middle by a brick wall, and on each side there's old school graphics with Buffalo logos, created in cool and detailed 3-D style. One of the sides are inspired by the blue home jersey, and the other side by the alternate jersey.

As always the artwork is created with extreme detail work to discover when looking close.

Celtic theme on Robin Lehner's new and very unique Ottawa mask

Ottawa Senators

I had so fun creating Robin Lehner's new Ottawa Senators mask. Robin and I talked a lot during the summer about design ideas and layouts. Robin had some pretty sweet ideas. He wanted something really new, something outside the box. A new style. Just what I love to do. I always want to move forward and create new styles and ideas and just play with my fantasy.

Robin had a vision of how to mix stones, with celtic themes, with Ottawa logos, and just make it look old... So I took all the elements and created a design that is a mix of it all, with a lot of silver and the Ottawa logos in a new way... The design is what I call 2 designs in 1. From a distance you have one look, and when you come closer a new world of cool details opens up and a second design is created in front of your eyes. All together a very unique look is created, with stones that are cracked and create cool lines.

Lehtonen's new mask look a tribute to Texas

Dallas Stars

Today we have the honor to present Kari Lehtonen's new Dallas Stars mask. It goes in the same style as his previous designs that I have created for him, with lots and lots of details in different styles, and everything connected to one theme.

The design is what I call a story teller design, and is a tribute to the state of Texas. On the side the Dallas Stars logo as a Texas map, and I created it as a real map, looking a bit old and used with some of the edges curved. Around that a very detailed theme of Texas, with a strong powerful longhorn bull in focus on the other side. You also find a belt buckle, cactus landscape, the Texas Star Ferris wheel, oil pumps and much more.

It was very exciting to create this design with a lot of white to give it an old school feeling. I used a lot of different painting techniques.

Bernier's new mask look in black and white

Los Angeles Kings

Today we have the honor to present the Los Angeles Kings keeper Jonathan Bernier's new mask look. The design is a so called story teller design, with a story behind every detail to explore. It is a continuation of his previous mask design themes that Jonathan and I have evolved through the years.

It was very interesting to create this design that is made in the new Kings colors, black and white. Bernier's fans will recognize the big powerful lion at the top, with a theme of LA Kings and Hollywood created around it.

Everything is created with extreme detail work, 3-D effects and lots and lots of sweet metallic glitter. Check out Jonathan Bernier's Los Angeles Kings mask in the mask gallery, on the DAVEART Facebook page or in the App!

Dan Ellis' new Ducks mask is a pirate ship...

Anaheim Ducks

I love to transform the masks into new stuff...and Dan Ellis had an awesome idea with cool ducks as skull pirates on his new mask... We made a virtual high five and I started this paint adventure where I transformed the whole mask to the front of a pirate ship cruising on the ocean... The water is splashing up on the sides as the ship is ready to attack some poor ships at night... You see some of them in the background.

Of course this pirate ship just as all pirate ship has a wood statue in the front of the ship, and on this pirate ship the statue obviously is a Ducks mask. The pirate skull ducks on each side are standing on the gunwale ready for war with a bunch of weapons... One of them is extra pissed off, he is holding his loved bottle of rome...but someone has emptied it, no wonder he's so mad...!

And hey there I recognize something, check out the water, the cute rubber duck is here again, this time dressed as a pirate. We also found him on Ellis' previous Zombie Ducks mask...but then as a zombie!

If you dare, check out Dan Ellis' new Ducks mask in scary pirate style, with all the extreme details and effects, in the mask gallery, the App or on our Facebook page. We will have more Ducks masks to present soon...

Pavelec's Winnipeg Jets mask transforms into an old school fighter jet

Winnipeg Jets

Today we're very proud to present Ondrej Pavelec's new Winnipeg Jets mask. It was a very special feeling to create this new design to a totally new NHL team. The design Ondrej and I came up with is a tribute to the Canadian Airforce, built on the team logos. The wings spread out on each side in a powerful way, and everything is created with strong contrasts to make it look good from a distance.

The chin of the mask transforms into an old school fighter jet front with its special classic painting with eyes and teeth. A cool detail that spices up the old school design and makes the mask feels like Jets to a 100%. The design is made to fit the uniform with its clean and traditional look. And of course a lot of details, 3-D effects and DAVEART Holographix FX.

Check out Ondrej Pavelec's Winnipeg Jets mask in the mask gallery, in the App or on our Facebook page. We will have more Jets masks to present soon...

Snowball bazooka on Varlamov's new Colorado mask

Colorado Avalanche

It's so fun to be Semyon Varlamov's painter. And this Colorado design we created together is just what it is named... Action in the Rocky Mountains! Semyon wanted something action packed with a lot of cool details, and something different... I started to do some sketches...and these dudes started to come to life in my sketches... So why not a cool war between Yeti dudes and Frosty dudes?!

The mask is hit by a snowball right in the middle of the face, and after that it's action all over the mask! Watch out...these characters are some pretty hi tech dudes...not only do they throw snowballs... No, this Yeti he has a Snowball bazooka...and of course, Frosty he has a carrot bazooka...

As you can see I had a lot of fun creating this design for Semyon with a sweet mix of Rocky Mountains and Russia, a lot and a lot of cool details. For example one of the mountain tops are transformed into one of the tops of the Vasilij Cathedral, and you also find a cool russian jet flying there, and much much more...!

Watch out for the snow and check out Semyon Varlamov's Colorado Avalanche mask in the mask gallery, on Facebook or in our App!

Skull soldiers on Mason's new mask

Columbus Blue JacketsIt's so fun and creative to be Steve Mason's mask painter. He always wants new stuff and is always open to new ideas. I love to work as a chameleon, to change paint style to whatever suits the design theme.

This time Steve wanted something really scary to show the horror of war. But scary in a new way, not just attacking monsters... I love to think outside the box. I see myself as much a storyteller as a painter. My idea was to create a scary feeling all over the mask and I came up with this calm theme, calm in a scary and disturbing way. Just silent and scary, a new kind.

So on the left side an artwork with the theme of horror of war. Scary civil war skull soldiers give the design it's name ”SkullSoldiers”. As you can see I'm also inspired by horror movies and scary cartoons, and this is also a tribute to that.

The other side is a logo themed design, looks sharp from a distance, and when you come close you discover a new dimension of details. The side is painted like it is stitched, in a scary way. When you come even closer you will see that all areas are painted with dramatic lines to add even more scary and disturbing feelings.

Pekka Rinne's PredGoalie goes hardcore

Nashville Predators

We rock on with new NHL masks and today we present the Nashville Predators super goalie Pekka Rinne's new outrageous design... I love to create new designs in new styles all the time, one day a classic old school design and the other day a totally insane and innovative design. I want to be as versatile as possible. Always unique stuff.

Rinne's PredGoalie from last year made such a huge success, my mailbox almost exploded with mails from Rinne and Nashville fans and hockey fans from all over the world. Pekka and I were so happy that the design was so popular. I came up with the idea with the scary Predator behind the old school goalie mask last summer, I love new ideas, and I immediately made up some sketches how to create it. Pekka loved it at once.

This year's design is a continuation of last year's, but now even more wild and mad... So we named it Hardcorelicious PredGoalie...and I cannot tell you enough how fun I had creating it! :-) It's created in the new Predators colors, with more blue and yellow. The Predator goalie is a real badass goalie, he has lost a tooth, and he also has a tongue piercing...and his brain is showing! He has tried to fix his mask using all possible tricks, staples, needle and wire, and band-aid again of course...

A design that works both from a long distance with it's scary look, and up close with all the extreme detail work. Welcome to check Pekka Rinne's new Nashville Predators mask in the mask gallery or on Facebook, or in the DAVEART App!

Tomas Vokoun's new Washington Capitals mask

Washington CapitalsToday we have the honor to present the Washington Capitals star keeper Tomas Vokoun's new mask look. I love to find out new unique design styles and evolve new ways of designing. Never stand still, creativity is number one for me. I feel like the luckiest guy in the world, to be able to pursue my biggest passion every day.

This design is a so called "2 designs in 1", a design style I have developed the last years. On a distance it's a classic distinct old school retro design built on the cool logos of the Caps. When you come closer you discover a new dimension of detail work.

The theme of the mask is America. Capitals' logos mixed with eagles in freedom and President Washington himself. Perfect theme for a Washinton Capitals mask design. In the design elements I have created motifs. In the mighty wings that spread over the sides of the mask I have painted motifs in dark blue tones with eagles in action, and in the white base, that gives a retro style, I have created motifs with eagles and President Washington. Motifs from dollar bills and coins. These motifs are painted in same tones as the background to melt in with the background from distance. The whole design is then framed by graphic lines in strong contrasts.

The design got the obvious name The President Of The United States Mask.
