Gargoyles have landed in Boston

Boston Bruins

Today we have the honor to present my buddy Marty Turco´s latest lid, his Boston Bruins mask. The cruel gargoyles have landed in Boston, guarding the goal, and these are really badass gargoyles, pimped in bear fur...!

I have created so many gargoyles for Marty through the years. When I created these ones I was a bit inspired from the gargoyles of the Notre Dame Cathedral, they are really cool.

And just as usual the design is so action packed of details, just what I love to create. In the background you find the Boston skyline, and much much more, stuff you can´t see on photo.

Welcome to check out Turco´s Bruins mask in the mask gallery. And in the App and on Facebook... :-) Thank you for your interest.

Turco´s Red Bull mask a teaser for tomorrow´s Bruins mask

EC Red Bull Salzburg

Tomorrow we have the pleasure to present the latest mask for my friend Marty Turco, his Boston Bruins mask. As a little funny teaser we today present his previous mask made for his previous team Red Bull Salzburg. I have painted a lot of Red Bull helmets for Red Bull through the years, and this one was for sure very special to create.

I have created so many different styles of gargoyles for Marty through the years, it´s always so exciting, and here they come in a red and blue version. :-) Just as usual they are sitting on each side of the mask, guarding the goal. Everything created and painted in total sync with the cool cans. And just as usual, lots and lots of details... :-)

Take a look at Marty Turco´s Red Bull Salzburg mask in the mask gallery and in the DAVEART App. Thank you.

Mayer´s mask art continues

Montreal Canadiens

Today we have the pleasure to present the Montreal Canadiens goalie Robert Mayer´s latest mask art. Robert was so very happy with his first mask I created for him, so he wanted this one to be as a clean continuation. I love to create mask designs as a serie where the masks connect with each other. With new details here and there the artworks are always totally unique.

Robert wanted to tell the origin of him and his family. I love to tell a story on a mask. Robert was born in the Czech Republic, then he grew up in Switzerland. On the left side of the mask there´s a tribute to the Czech Republic with a theme of mountains and a flag, and on the right side there´s a tribute to Switzerland.

Around this I created a crisp and clean Habs design in old school feeling with so many details and hidden effects that continues telling the story of Robert.

Check out the mask in the mask gallery and in our App! Thank you for your interest.

Pavelec´s mask saga continues

Winnipeg Jets

Today we have the pleasure to present Ondrej Pavelec's latest Winnipeg Jets mask. When we presented his first mask my mailbox almost exploded, I am so happy the design was so popular among the Jets fans. And Ondrej was also so happy with it that he wanted this one to be a continuation in the same style. We just changed some minor details, every artwork is unique.

The design Ondrej and I came up with is a tribute to the Canadian Airforce, built on the team logos. I came up with the base design idea when the new team logos were presented to me last summer. Ondrej loved my ideas. The wings spread out on each side in a powerful way, both look good on a distance and close up, and the closer you come the more details you will discover, with both canadian fighters jets and cockpit details. I always do a lot of research before any artwork, every artwork tells its story.

The chin of the mask transforms into an old school fighter jet front with its special classic painting with eyes and teeth. A cool detail that spices up the old school design and makes the mask feels like Jets to a 100%. The design is made to fit the uniform with its clean and traditional look. And of course a lot of details, 3-D effects and DAVEART Holographix FX.

Welcome to check it out in the mask gallery and on Facebook. And of course in the DAVEART App for iPhone, iPad and Android!

American Zombies is the name of Mason´s new lid

Columbus Blue Jackets

Today we have the pleasure to present the new mask of the Columbus Blue Jackets keeper Steve Mason. Steve told me he wanted something really, really scary, created in a new way... At that time I was watching a zombie movie when I painted, yes, I always watch movies when I paint... :-)

Zombies are so scary and creepy, so I came up with a very scary design theme with zombies, but in a new style, mixed with American theme and also Blue Jackets colors and graphics. Steve loved my ideas...

To get in the right zombie mode I watched all my favorite zombie movies when I painted. I am also a big fan of the TV serie Walking Dead, I both watch the serie and read the comic. My favorite zombie movies are Dawn of the dead, Shawn of the dead, 28 weeks and 28 months, just to name a few... :-) I always do a lot research before I start any artwork... :-)

I had so fun when I created the design. The design has a clear look from distance, but when you come closer you will discover more and more details and the design transforms in front of your eyes, and becomes a big bad zombie attack!

Check out the mask in the mask gallery, on Facebook or in the DAVEART App. Thank you for your interest.

Nilsson´s glittering continuation

New York Islanders

I have painted for Anders Nilsson for many years and it is always so fun. Anders was so happy with his previous Islanders mask I created for him, so for this design he wanted it to be a clean continuation. It´s the same basic design that plays with the Islanders logos, but with a new base color and also other details. The DAVEART XXFX DiamondGlitter makes the design elements pop, and all over the mask there are hidden details to be discovered when you come closer and closer to the mask.

Welcome to check out Anders Nilsson´s Islanders mask in the MaskGallery. Thank you.

Donkey Kong in New York

New York Rangers

I can´t tell you enough how fun I had when I created this Rangers design for Jason Missiaen. Donkey Kong was one of my first video games when I grew up.

The whole mask is created as a concrete wall with Rangers graphics with the Statue of Liberty...and the entire wall is breaking into pieces and there behind the wall you find New York city... But what is going on... Donkey Kong has just climbed up on the top of the Empire State Building, just as his buddy King Kong... And this is a real hockey donkey, he has also brought his hockey stick...but oh no, I see problems coming...just like his buddy King Kong he is being attacked by fighter planes...they are flying all over shooting at him!

I love to paint details, and here I really went crazy on details, added with maximum action and 3-D effects as well as Metallic FX by DAVEART, and more... :-)

Welcome to check out the mask design in the mask gallery. Thank you.

Carey Price´s new lid transforms into a chromed torch

Montreal Canadiens

I am very happy to present the new mask of the Montreal Canadiens keeper Carey Price. It was such an honor for me to be chosen to create your new mask look Carey. Carey wanted something completely new, something outside the box, and that is exactly what I love to do, always explore new styles and effects, always evolve and never stand still.

Carey had such an excellent idea. He wanted to do a tribute design to the golden torch that is brought out in the playoffs in Montreal, to signify the passing of the torch from the old players to the new. And with this he wanted a lot and lot of sweet chrome effects.

I immediately saw a design idea in front of me, I came up with the idea of transforming the whole mask into a big chromed torch with retro hot rod flames, mixed with top modern chrome effects with DAVEART XXFX SilverChrome. Packed with so much details, action and 3-D effects. A design that will look good in any angle. Among all the details you will discover famous buildings from Montreal as a tribute to the city of Montreal.

The closer you get the more details you will discover, and the mask transforms into a new design in front of your eyes. Much of the details cannot even be seen in photos.

The chrome also makes the mask even more unique, the mask is nearly impossible to photograph since it is so chromy and shiny. It works better on TV... :-) We will also post a short video clip of the mask just to show the chrome effects a bit more.

You are all welcome to check out this new mask artwork in the DAVEART MaskGallery, on our Facebook page or in the App for iPhone, iPad and Android.

Thank you for your interest.

More pics of Rinne´s winning mask

Here is a couple of photos from yesterday when Pekka Rinne and his Predators played against the Red Wings. He played with the winning mask from Predators´ cool mask contest, where fans got the chance to design a mask for Pekka Rinne. The grand prize was to get the design painted by me on a mask and the mask worn by Pekka in a Predators game, and then finally to keep the game-worn mask! :-)

After the game the winner Liz Guilyard got to meet Pekka and got the mask signed by him. Congrats Liz, I had so fun when I painted your design, you have a great talent!

Optimus Reim is here

Toronto Maple Leafs

I can tell you this, I had fun when I created and painted this one... :-) It is a dream of fun to be the painter of James Reimer of the Toronto Maple Leafs. James had a vision of how we could focus on his nickname Optimus Reim, and do a design around that. I came up with this concept and James immediately gave me green light to start.

The mask made of ice is breaking into pieces as Optimus Reim is driving out as an all blue truck from the side of the mask, and you also see him as an all blue Optimus Reim Transformer... The Toronto logo in metal is fastened with screws onto the ice....! It was also much fun to paint the Optimus Reim logo on the side.

I love to paint details, and here I really went crazy on details, added with maximum action and 3-D effects as well as Metallic FX by DAVEART, and more... :-)

Welcome to check out James Reimer´s new Toronto Maple Leafs mask design in the mask gallery. Thank you.

Leggio tells his story

Rochester Americans

Welcome David Leggio to our team. It was so fun to create and paint Leggio´s new Rochester Americans mask. The design is an old school created design with lots and lots of details, a design that tells David´s story. At a first look it gives a clean look, and when you come closer a new world of details and storytelling opens up.

The design is a mix of Rochester Americans and Buffalo Sabres. One side is dedicated to Buffalo where David is from, with the Buffalo coin and other important details from when David grew up. You also find the TV announcer Rick Jeanneret there, and much more. The other side of the mask is dedicated to his team Americans, and also the American army, and especially the father to one of David´s friends.

Welcome to check out the mask in the mask gallery. Thank you for your interest.

Lehner´s success masks continue

Ottawa Senators

Today we have the pleasure to present Robin Lehner's latest Ottawa Senators mask. The new mask goes in the same style as his previous success mask. I got so incredibly many e-mails after that mask. Robin and I wanted to do something totally new. I love to always come up with new ideas and explore new styles, always think outside the box, never stand still. Together we created this silverish stone inspired look with violent cracks, mixed with hard vintage style and celtic feelings. All mixed with cool Ottawa graphics, especially the O logo to connect with the 3rd jersey.

From a distance you have one look, and when you come closer a new world of cool details opens up and a second very unique design is created in front of your eyes.

Welcome to check it out in the mask gallery. Thank you.
