It´s Prime time on Talbot´s new mask

New York Rangers

It´s Prime time for sure on the New York Rangers goalie Cameron Talbot´s new mask. When Cam told me what he wanted on his new mask I was totally thrilled, my kids and I love the Transformers movies, and we often play with our Transformer toys... :)

The whole mask is painted as a classic Rangers mask with the logos, painted as the mask is made of metal. But then the action starts...Mr Prime is breaking through the metal mask with New York in the background, the metal is bent open all over the mask...showing some robotic powers.

It was with a big smile I painted this mask, I just love to go crazy on details to be discovered all over the mask. :)

Check it out in the mask gallery and in the DAVEART App. Thank you for your interest.

Mayer´s mask tells his story

Montreal Canadiens

Today we have the pleasure to welcome the Montreal Canadiens goalie Robert Mayer to our team and to present his new artwork.

Robert wanted something totally new on his mask and he wanted to tell the origin of him and his family. I love to tell a story on a mask. Robert was born in the Czech Republic, then he grew up in Switzerland. On the left side of the mask there´s a tribute to the Czech Republic with a theme of mountains and a flag, and on the right side there´s a tribute to Switzerland.

Around this I created a crisp and clean Habs design in old school feeling with so many details and hidden effects that continues telling the story of Robert.

Welcome to check out Robert Mayer´s Canadiens mask in the mask gallery and on Facebook. Thank you for your interest.

Watch out for Dex with a civil war sword

Columbus Blue Jackets

Watch out for Dex again, he is back on a new mask, and now he also has a civil war sword...! It´s so fun to be the Columbus Blue Jackets goalie Mark Dekanich´s painter. It´s always with a big smile I paint his designs with Dex, his nickname and character that always appears on Mark´s masks. Check out all Mark´s Dex masks in the gallery.

This mask is painted for the 3rd jersey, with focus on the cool cannon logo. Then the whole mask goes crazy and is cracked open and out jumps a mad Dex. As you can see, I love to paint a lot of details. :)

Welcome to check out Mark Dekanich´s Columbus mask in the mask gallery or in the DAVEART App. Thank you. :)

Defender of the Crown is the name of Zatkoff´s Kings mask

Los Angeles Kings

When I was a kid and played video games with my Commodore 64 one of my favorite games was Defender of the Crown... :) That is a perfect name and fits this artwork like a glove. I have painted for the Los Angeles Kings keeper Jeff Zatkoff for a couple of years now, and I love to paint for him, he knows what he wants and he always has so cool ideas.

This design is inspired from a crown of a King and a helmet of a Knight. The LA Kings Crown logo and the customized Kings logo with Jeff´s number are waved around the mask just as a King´s Crown. Around that a symphony of details in the name of Los Angeles Kings. Strong contrasts give a cool look to the design from a distance, and as you come closer new design is created in front of your eyes.

Just as usual a lot of detail work, love to do that. :) Look at the white base, you may think it is white at the first look, but when you come closer it evolves to an old school castle brick wall. Love to paint for you Jeff!

You´re all welcome to check out Jeff Zatkoff´s LA Kings mask in the mask gallery, on Facebook and in the App. Thank you for your interest.

Flying feathers on Tarkki´s Ducks mask

Anaheim Ducks

I want to welcome the Anaheim Ducks goalie Iiro Tarkki as a new member into our team. It was so fun to paint this one for Iiro and I love to paint the Ducks mask logo, it is one of my favorites.

Iiro wanted a graphic and clean team design, with the logos as the base, but not only that of course... :) But also a lot of details and 3-D effects, just what I love to do. I put together a design concept for Iiro and he liked my ideas and sketches. The whole design is built on the team logos, very visible from a distance, and when you come closer a new dimension opens up and a new design is created in front of your eyes. Lots of metallic effects and DAVEART Holographix FX.

And as a funny detail, a cool connection to Iiro´s goalie buddy Jeff Deslauriers´ Ducks mask is the small duck feathers flying all over the mask, just as on Jeff´s mask... They for sure play hard hockey in Ducks, making the feathers fly everywhere.

Welcome to check out Iiro Tarkki´s Anaheim Ducks mask in the mask gallery. Thank you.

Music heroes on Beskorowany´s new mask

Dallas Stars

I am very happy to present the Dallas Stars goalie Tyler Beskorowany´s new mask. When Tyler told me what he wanted on his new mask I was totally thrilled. He wanted a tribute design for his two musician heroes, Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson. I couldn´t wait to get started.

Tyler had some awesome ideas about the design, he especially wanted a kind of green falling star as a part of the design. And Tyler´s equipment manager Brian is also a brilliant artist and he showed me some of his awesome drawings. I created and sketched a design plan and I got green light to get started. It was so incredible fun to paint this design.

One side is dedicated to Cash, and the other side to Nelson. I wanted it to be a worthy and clean design, in the same style as the awesome music of the artists. I love to change style in paint, depending on the theme and what feeling I want to bring into the design.

Just as usual the design is packed with extreme detail work to be discovered all over the design, many of them created with metallic and only visible when seen live.

Check out the mask in the mask gallery, on Facebook or in the DAVEART App! Thank you for you interest.

Burning TikiGargoyles on Theodore´s new mask

Florida Panthers

Today we have the honor to present the Florida Panthers goalie Jose Theodore´s new mask. I love so much to work with Jose, he just like me loves a lot of details on the masks. :)

On this mask it is time for Gargoyles again, I love to paint gargoyles. Jose wanted it in a new unique way with a cool connection to Florida. Karl in my team came up with the idea of Tiki, I made some sketches were I mixed Tikis and Gargoyles, and the design idea was born. Jose loved the sketches and I started the adventure to paint it.

The Burning TikiGargoyles are sitting on each side of the Florida beach in their sand castles, guarding the net. Around this I created a totally action packed Florida design with so many Florida details to discover all over the mask. I love to spend a lot of time just painting details and go crazy on details, and play with metallic effects. Lots of the stuff you can only see when you see the mask live. I remember when I was a kid and watched the TV series Miami Vice, in the intro there were flamingos, so I really wanted that in the design... :)

On the chin the mask is transformed into a Tiki Gargoyle mask, turning Jose into one when he put it on his head.

Welcome to check out Jose Theodore´s Panthers mask in the mask gallery. Thank you for your interest.

Race graphics on McKenna´s latest mask

Ottawa Senators

It is so exciting to work with the Ottawa Senators keeper Mike McKenna. I have been working with Mike for a couple of years. Mike is a big time racing fan, and on his masks he always wants racing inspired graphics with cool action lines, mixed with the team logos. It is so exciting to create.

Just as usual we have added lots and lots of details and metallic effects and 3-D details. When you come closer and closer to the mask a new dimension of details opens up, and a new design is created in front of your eyes. Some stuff you can only see when you see the mask live. On one side I have painted the Canadian Parliament.

Welcome to check out Mike McKenna´s goalie mask in the mask gallery on the site, on the Facebook page and in the DAVEART App for iPhone, iPad and Android. Thank you for your interest.

Jeremy Smith´s Predators mask

Nashville Predators

I am very happy to present the Nashville Predators goalie Jeremy Smith´s latest artwork. I have been painting for Jeremy for a couple of years and it is always so fun. Jeremy always has so cool ideas. This design I created in the middle of the hot summer. First we talked about different ideas, it is very interesting to create a design that is a mix of two teams, Predators and Admirals. This design idea popped up in my head when I was laying at the beach... :) Jeremy immediately gave me green light.

How about splitting the mask by the horizontal middle line, and use that as the ocean line in the painting? It worked great.

The whole design is created as a clean and classic design, yet so full of details ready to be discovered all over the mask. Many of the effects are created with metallic and can only be seen in real.

The upper part is dedicated to Admirals, I painted an ocean line and a cool Admirals ship is cruising the water. A fun detail with the ships is that they are created with an old school brush. I love to mix paint techniques. In the sky above the ocean I created the Admirals skull logo with graphic lines in silver and metallic.

The lower part of the design is a very classic theme with the cool logos of Predators, I really love the new logos.

Aebischer´s Jets design a tribute to the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Canadian Aces of WW2

Winnipeg Jets

Today we have the pleasure to present David Aebischer´s new Winnipeg Jets mask. It was very exciting to create this design, a tribute to the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Canadian Aces of WW2. The design has a lot of meanings and messages, so many details that some you cannot see on the photos, only when you see it live. I love to incorporate a lot of details and stories into the designs.

On one side it is a tribute painting to the Canadian Ace Wilbert Dodd from the WW2. I painted his plane flying over the mountains in Winnipeg Jets blue colors, with the The Royal Canadian Air Force logo.

The other side is painted to look like an old school fighter plane with the metal surface, with a babe painted on it, just like it used to be. And this babe is very special, as you can see she have a spear, a shield with the Swiss flag, and braided hair. She is Helvetia, a Swiss national figure.

Around the chin is the latin phrase from the Air Force logo, "Per Ardua Ad Astra", that is also the name of this mask design. It means "Through adversity to the stars", and that phrase inspired the whole artwork. From the front the graphic lines on the top shapes the letter V, the sign of Victory and the sign Churchill showed when WW2 was won.

These are just some of all the details in this very detailed artwork. Welcome to check it out in the mask gallery, on Facebook and in the App!

Congrats Team Sweden and Johan Gustafsson, check out his mask

Luleå HF

Congrats to Team Sweden and keeper Johan Gustafsson to the Gold Medal in the Junior World Championship! Johan is keeper in the Swedish elite team Luleå HF and today we have the honor to present his gold medal winning Luleå mask.

I have been painting for Johan for many years, and he always wants a cool detail on his masks, the cool character Pingu. I love that! Johan wanted a very clean design with strong effects, and a light colored base.

I really love the Luleå bear, I remember when I painted it on Jarmo Mylly´s Luleå masks back on the 90´s. The bear fits perfect to paint in black and white, super old school. We placed it on the top of the mask, and the rest of the mask is painted just as if it´s totally ripped into pieces by a badass bear... A design that works both from distance, and when you come closer and discover all the details.

Welcome to check out Johan Gustafsson´s Luleå mask in the mask gallery on the site, on Facebook or in the App for iPhone, iPad and Android.

Eddie´s Canucks mask with magic green lightning bolts

Vancouver Canucks

I have been Vancouver Canucks´ goalie Eddie Läck´s painter for many years and it is always so fun to create his paintings. Today we are happy to present his latest creation. Eddie always likes strong and powerful designs built on the team logos. And with such beautiful logos as the Canucks, it is a perfect way to go.

The design is painted with modern effects, mixed with old school feeling and a close connection to the team jersey. Everything created with lots and lots of details, and just as usual lots of hidden details created with pearl colors, details you can only see when you see the mask live, not on photos. And of course lots of metallic glitter and 3-D effects, as well as DAVEART Holographix FX. The green lightning bolts all over the design gives the design a magic feeling, just as the orcas are magic animals.

Welcome to check out Eddie Läck´s Canucks mask in the mask gallery and on our Facebook page. Thank you for your interest.

Messi on Budaj´s new mask

Montreal Canadiens

When the Montreal Canadiens keeper Peter Budaj called and told me what he wanted on his new mask I wanted to start right away. Peter is just like me a big soccer fan, and we both love the wizard Lionel Messi, soccer player in Barcelona.

I have been working with Peter for many years and he always has so cool ideas. I made some sketches and started. The design is a tribute to Messi with lots of details. From a distance the design is clear, and when you come closer a new world of details opens up. The white base of the mask makes it pop, and in the white base I also painted the surface of a soccer ball. And lots of 3-D effects and metallic glitter, and DAVEART Holographix FX.

And of course Ned shows up, as always on Peter´s masks, and this time he is dressed as a soccer player in Slovakia´s National Team jersey. But poor Ned, he is hit in the head by the ball...

Just as usual you can find this and Peter Budaj´s all other masks in the mask gallery, on Facebook and in the DAVEART App. Thank you.
