Alsenfelt's mask with the new Elitserien team Växjö's new club logo

Växjö Lakers
It's always exciting to create mask designs with new logos and colors. As in this case, the team Växjö Lakers changed both logo and colors when they advanced to the Swedish top division Elitserien. Oscar visited me in the studio and we talked us through the design. He wanted a classically created design with clear and distinct colors and lines, with the new club logo in focus. But he also wanted to celebrate the fantastic fans that cheered the team and helped them take the step up to Elitserien.

The base of the design with the colors and lines is inspired by the new team uniform, and on one side I placed the new beautiful shield. The lines create an old school feeling and makes the mask look good also from a long distance. When you look closer you discover a new world of details, as the mascot of the fan club Lakers Lakejer that you can spot in the blue metallic tones. The mask is created with extreme detail work and 3-D effects beyond normal. Nothing new there... ;-)

Andersen transforms into an Indian Chief in his new mask

Frölunda Indians
The new Frölunda Indians keeper Frederik Andersen had a classic but cool idea for his Indians mask. He wanted the entire mask painted as an Indian feather warbonnet, transforming himself into an Indian chief. I have painted this type of design many times and it always works. Clear colors and contrasts make the design very distinct also from a long distance. And just as usual lots of detail work that gives a great 3-D depth.

Welcome to check out Frederik Andersen's Frölunda Indians mask in the mask gallery and on Facebook! But the place where the masks can be seen first is always in the DAVEART App for iPhone, iPad and Android...

Sweet movie contest with hot prizes!

Battle: Los Angeles
Time for a new sweet movie contest together with my friends at Sony! I hope you like action and aliens...like I do... Five happy winners will get Battle: Los Angeles on Blu-ray together with a cool t-shirt!

Contest question: In which (fast) movies did Michelle Rodriguez play Letty Ortis?

E-mail the answer to contest@daveart.com before September 15 and you may be one of the happy winners!

For years, there have been documented cases of UFO sightings around the world – Buenos Aires, Seoul, France, Germany, China. But in 2011, what were once just sightings will become a terrifying reality when Earth is attacked by unknown forces. As people everywhere watch the world’s great cities fall, Los Angeles becomes the last stand for mankind in a battle no one expected. It’s up to a Marine staff sergeant (Aaron Eckhart) and his new platoon to draw a line in the sand as they take on an enemy unlike any they’ve ever encountered before.

Elvis rocks on Lundström's new Timrå mask

Timrå IK
Today we have the pleasure of presenting Timrå IK's new keeper Joakim Lundström's new mask the upcoming season in the Swedish Elitserien. I created it a hot summer day, and when Joakim told me what he wanted on his mask I was so happy. Elvis from the Jailhouse Rock times, couldn't be more exciting to create! I love to create and paint designs in totally new styles and constantly try new ideas. And this design we really wanted to create in a totally new way.

Since we wanted an old school look of Elvis, I chose to use old school oil paint tech when I painted Elvis in the characteristic rock poses on each side. In this way we got a perefect profile of the mask and the same rocking and dancing feeling as in the Jailhouse film.

I also love to create two designs in one. With this I mean that when you see the mask from distance you see one design, in this with a dancing Elvis, and when you come closer you discover a new design and a world of details that give depth to the whole. In the white base I created paintings and portraits of Elvis in sketch-like style, like the famous Elvis postage stamp and his autograph.

Terminator Penguin on Langkow's new mask

Krefeld Penguins
Who's throwing a snowball in the middle of the face of Langkow's new mask? Whoever it was, he shouldn't mess with that Penguin, cause now he's pissed off... and thats no good, cause if you look close you'll see he's a Terminator Penguin! Check out his arm... there you see robot stuff under the skin, and red eyes behind the sunglasses, and the same rifle as Arnold...

I had a lot of fun creating this design, with lots and lots of details and action, ready to rock! Check out Scott Langkow's Krefeld Penguins mask in the mask gallery or on Facebook.

Old school style on Larsson's new HV71 mask

HV71
We continue to present new masks for the upcoming Elitserie season in Sweden. Today's design is what it's named, old school. Clean and distinct lines creates Daniel Larsson's contrast-rich mask design that breathes HV71 to 100%. The design is stylish, but with many effects and 3-D details to discover if you come close. DAVEART Holographix FX gives a nice depth. To paint for HV71 is special, since it was the first pro team I painted for 15 years ago...

Check out Daniel Larsson's HV71 mask in the mask gallery or on our Facebook page, or in the App of course!
