Raanta´s friends moves to New York... 🌃

New York Rangers

When Antti Raanta moves to New York of course his friends from Finland comes along 🌃

Antti wanted something special on his new New York Rangers mask. A dear tribute to his home country of Finland🇫🇮. So then a tribute design to the awesome Moomins from Finland, created by the Finnish author Tove Jansson, is the perfect choice.

And when Moomins comes to New York, of course they will play hockey at the world famous Ice Rink at the Rockefeller Center🌉. The Moomintroll is a goalie with an old school goalie mask on his head, playing hockey with his buddy Little My.💪🏻

The mask is transformed into the world famous rink, with the awesome skyscrapers in the background, among them the Rockefeller Center. All created in Rangers colors, of course👍🏻.

For sure the design is loaded with details all over the mask to be discovered like on a treasure map🔎. And of course all the DAVEART Trademark Super FX💎 is here..

Tove Jansson is one of my idols so I can tell you I loved to create and paint this piece❤️🎨

Talbot is possessed by…. Slimer! Better call someone...👻

New York Rangers

Watch out… Cam Talbot is possessed by… Slimer! You better call someone…. 👻

Slimer is big, he is sliming and drooling, and he looks very hungry… even the Statue of Liberty up there looks afraid…🗽 Lucky us Cam Talbot is also known as the Goalbuster, so he can take care of the Slimer and get him rid off his face! 💪

And as the true ghost Slimer is, he also glows in the dark💡… It can also be very handy with a glowy ghost on the mask, if the power goes in the arena, just follow Cam.👍

The mask is not only loaded with G.L.O.W Tech FX💡, you will also find all the other DAVEART Trademark Super FX💎, such as Hologram FX 2.0, and more...

And please, close the fridge, Slimer looks very hungry…🍖🍕

Thanks Cam, love to be your mask artist and come up with all these crazy ideas with you...😬🎨

Lundqvist´s FDNY mask in the TV series The Mask 📺

New York Rangers

It has been an awesome adventure making the TV series "The Mask" with Henrik Lundqvist and all his guests in NYC. A dream project for sure!

To make the FDNY mask was very special. Not only the mask must look good, it must also be worthy.🗽

Me and Henrik talked a lot and brainstormed how to create it. I made drawings and we sent them back and forth. Both Henrik and me met the FDNY firefighters of the world famous team Rescue 1. A plan was crystallized how to create this piece.🚒

On one side is a tribute to the fallen heroes from 9/11, I made the painting of the firefighters raising the American flag.🇺🇸

Then the other side is a tribute to the Rescue 1 team, with their own firetruck called Outstanding driving out on new missions. Also a close up of the front of the truck with the truck´s name.🚒

One thing that was important to Henrik was also the phrase in the forehead of the mask ”Still We Rise”. And all over the mask it is so loaded with details to tell the story of the heroes of NYC.❤️

It was a truly honor to create this mask and something I will always keep in my heart. It was also extra special to meet the Rescue 1 firefighters in NYC. Me and my wife were also invited to the Rescue 1´s team 100 years anniversary in NYC. It was truly amazing to be there. Thank you Rescue 1 for inviting us.❤️

Here is more about this mask from www.msg.com :

"When Henrik sat down with some of the bravest people in New York, the New York City Fire Department, an amazing mask was bound to be created.

Henrik and the FDNY decided that this mask would be a tribute to the city they all call home. The mask features imagery of the New York City skyline, specifically, the Twin Towers, the Statue of Liberty, and the newly finished Freedom Tower. These buildings are a touching tribute to New York’s past and present.

The mask also has a 343 on the chin piece to honor those firefighters who lost their lives as a result of 9/11. The mask also has a "Rescue 1" 100th anniversary patch, and a Rescue 1 Fire truck. Henrik and the FDNY thought it was important to make sure the mask honored New York’s best and bravest."

Jeff Gordon´s racing mask with Lundqvist in the TV series The Mask 📺

New York Rangers

It has been an awesome adventure making the TV series "The Mask" with Henrik Lundqvist and his guests. A dream project for sure!

I love racing and when Henrik called me and told me Jeff Gordon was the next guest in the TV series The Mask I started to brainstorm at once… I started to think of the cool flames Jeff often has on his helmets… How about create classic racing flames, in a new way on a mask… I started to sketch and the ideas crystallized and I started to paint in front of the TV cameras...🎥

And then it was awesome to be invited to NYC and see these masks from the TV series, displayed at an exhibition in NYC…🌃🎬🗽

Here is more about this mask from www.msg.com :

When Henrik sat down with racing legend Jeff Gordon, it was obvious this mask would be exciting.

The first feature that stands out is Gordon’s iconic car number 24 painted on the chin piece. The flames on the front and the checker flags are other links to the racing world, and a great nod to Gordon's historic career in NASCAR.

The mask also features a Stanley Cup and Sprint Cup, celebrating the success both men have had in their respected sports. Finally, there's a picture of Gordon himself as well as a classic racetrack.

This mask is a great tribute to one of the greats in racing and one of the greats in hockey, as well as a celebration of both careers.

Michael J Fox´s mask with Lundqvist in the TV series The Mask ⭐️⭐️⭐️

New York Rangers

It has been an awesome adventure making the TV series "The Mask" with Henrik Lundqvist and his guests⭐️. A dream project for sure!😃🎨

When Henrik called me and told me Michael J Fox was the next guest in the TV series The Mask it was just too good to be true ❤️ I am such a huge fan of Michael J Fox, both as an actor and what he is doing now with his foundation.

I always watch movies when I paint..🎬 I even have a cinema surround system setup in my paint room...👍 And the Back To The Future movies I watch every year! Those movies will always be on my top list. I am a total BTTF fan and nerd.❤️

I remember when I was a kid in the end of the 80's, my friends asked me if I wanted to hang out, it was weekend... No, I preferred to be home with my new Back To The Future movie box...📺

So to paint this mask I will never forget, it will be a treasure in my life. And then to be invited to NYC and see this masks and the other masks from the TV series, displayed at an exhibition in NYC... Wow ❤️🌃

Here is more about this mask from www.msg.com :

"We made a mask out of a Delorean"

When Henrik Lundqvist teamed up with actor and advocate, Michael J. Fox, to design a mask, past and present came together to create an epic piece. In a comical nod to Fox’s last name and acting career, the mask has a cartoon fox coming out of the sunroof of the classic “Back To The Future” DeLorean.

One of the best features on the mask is the other tribute to “Back To The Future;” a depiction of the classic movie poster depicting Fox stepping out of the DeLorean, and checking his watch. Even the dates of time travel that were featured in the movie made it on the mask!

Family man Fox also included his four children’s initials on the back. Henrik and Fox also decided to include their home city of New York on the mask.

They included the Ranger’s logo, written in the “Back To The Future” font, as well as a picture of the Statue of Liberty. This mask is a great combination of both men and the things they are truly passionate about.

Tiesto´s mask with Lundqvist in the TV series The Mask

New York Rangers

It has been an awesome adventure making the TV series "The Mask" with Henrik Lundqvist and his guests⭐️. A dream project for sure!😃🎨

In the third episode Tiesto was the guest. Me and Henrik brainstormed how to create this music piece! We came up with a plan pretty quick…🎧🎼🎶💥

Here is more about this mask from www.msg.com :

"The theme behind the Tiesto mask was finding the perfect balance between the similarities and differences of Tiesto and Henrik’s worlds. Both hailing from Scandinavia, the two share similar cultures and histories, which they wanted to incorporate as a main focal point in the mask.

The mask features a tribute to Old New York, or New Amsterdam as it was originally named. The first New York governor, of Netherlands decent, is depicted as stoic statue. They also paid homage to their new roots in Las Vegas, New York, and Stockholm.

Tiesto wanted to incorporate a flashy version of his logo, which he said was “shiny like me and the top of Madison Square Garden.” Although not illustrated on the mask, both Tiesto and Henrik wanted to recognize the devoted nature of their fans.

“Without the fans we both would be nothing,” Tiesto says. The mask exemplifies the combination of two worlds seamlessly coming together to form one epic mask.

Next up in Lundqvist´s TV series The Mask; John McEnroe 🎾📺

New York Rangers

It has been a very exciting winter making the TV series "The Mask" with Henrik Lundqvist. A dream project for sure!📺

In the second episode John McEnroe was the guest🎾🎾. Me and Henrik brainstormed how to create this rock´n roll piece! We came up with a plan pretty quick...🎨

Here is more about this mask from www.msg.com :

“Vintage Rock” was the theme of Henrik’s mask with the legendary tennis champion, John McEnroe. Both Henrik and McEnroe wanted to capture the rock star energy of the 80’s visually on the mask, while also combining both their hobbies.

The mask features a tribute to late great rockers such as Keith Richards, Jimi Hendrix, and Eric Clapton, displaying the duos shared love of music. The mask also features a skull designed by McEnroe which boasts the classic headband and big hair he was famous for in the 80’s.

The chin piece on the mask is a nod to both Henrik and McEnroe’s professions; featuring a tennis racket and goalie stick. The mask also has a tribute to New York, with a picture of the skyline and the saying, “Long Live The Rock,” highlighting the love that these two have for their city and classic rock-n-roll.

Henrik surprised McEnroe by adding McEnroe’s signature saying, “You Can’t Be Serious,” to the front piece. This mask highlights both men’s love of music, their hometown, and professions, while maintaining a vintage rock-n-roll feel.

The first mask in Lundqvist´s TV series The Mask, with Mario Batali 📺🍅

New York Rangers

It has been a very exciting winter making the TV series "The Mask" with Henrik Lundqvist. A dream project for sure! 😃 📺

Here is the first mask I painted for Henrik Lundqvist and Mario Batali.🎨 Me and Henrik talked a lot about the design how to create it and connect all the pieces, it´s not so often I include pizzas and tomotoes 🍅 on a mask…😃 And the cartoon version of Mario on the side we made with a little funny twist, his look is a little bit inspired by another Mario guy from Italy🇮🇹... :😃

You are welcome to check out the mask in the mask gallery or on our Facebook page. You´ll also find a lot of behind the scene photos on our Instagram, and you´re welcome to follow us also on Twitter.

Here is more about this mask from www.msg.com :

“If there is anything I love more than hockey, it’s good food,” Henrik said before designing a mask with celebrity chef, Mario Batali. Both men are passionate about food and New York, so bringing that passion into the mask was simple.

Batali eagerly pitched his design idea: an image of him riding his Vespa in his signature orange Crocs, down the hill of Mount Vesuvius while holding a basket of tomatoes, with lava flowing behind him. The cartoon nature of the mask reflects Batali’s energy and excitement when it comes to food as well as his attitude toward life.

Batali also wanted to include one of his great loves, pizza, along with the saying “Pizza is truth.” Henrik proposed juxtaposing the Italian side of the mask with a New York side to reflect Batali and his hometown.

The mask features classic New York imagery such as the Little Italy’s cross streets of Mott and Grand, the Brooklyn Bridge on a starry night, and Batali’s own restaurant, Babbo. This mask highlights the love that Batali and Henrik have for food and New York in a creative and passionate way.

O man I had so fun when I created this Stadium Series mask for New York Rangers keeper Cam Talbot.

Once again the ghosts of New York pops up on Cam´s #NHL masks, and since this is his mask for the Stadium Series of course the ghosts are playing baseball… :)

Just as usual the design is totally loaded with special effects and 3D effects and all kind of #DAVEART trademark effects… I just love to play with the #airbrush. And of course you find the thin pinstripes on the chin of the mask, as a tribute to the New York Yankees…
