A new mask from a nightmare…

Philadelphia Flyers

Steve Mason's new Philadelphia Flyers mask is a direct continuation of his past Twilight Zone masks. In these designs we want to recreate the feeling you have when you wake up from a really bad nightmare…

I love to be your painter Steve :-)

We dig even deeper in the unpleasant details, to create a true horror mask… And not only that, in this design Steve´s own dog shows up as well…

On a distance it's a scary and stitched skull mask with the Philly logos stitched to the mask… and when you come closer you aren't sure what you're seeing, we wanted to create a scary feeling. You will discover so much details all over the mask, details that tells a story of horror, you will find morbid faces, skulls, a shark attack, dripping blood and so much more…

The design is pumped with all the Super FX, just what I love to do.

You are welcome to check out the mask in the mask gallery, in the App or on our Facebook page.

Thank you all.

To wake up from a nightmare... The Twilight Zone continues…

Columbus Blue Jackets

Steve Mason's latest mask is a direct continuation of his past Twilight Zone masks. In these designs we want to recreate the feeling you have when you wake up from a really bad nightmare…

This design continues in the same nasty style as Steve's latest designs, and here we dig even deeper in the unpleasant details to create a true horror mask.

On a distance it's a scary and stitched skull mask… and when you come closer you aren't sure what you're seeing, we just wanted to create a scary feeling. You will discover so much details all over the mask that tells a story of horror, you will find insects, morbid faces, skulls, a shark attack, dripping blood and so much more… and the shark attack continues on the backplate… And check out the skulls, they are a tribute to Steve's favorite TV show…

I just love to paint in different styles from day to day.

The design is pumped with all the Super FX, just what I love to do. It is so creative to be your painter Steve!

You are welcome to check out the mask in the mask gallery, in the App or on our Facebook page.

Thank you all.

Mason's new scary mask digs even deeper in the horror of war

Columbus Blue Jackets

Today we have the pleasure to present the new mask creation for the Columbus Blue Jackets keeper Steve Mason. I love to come up with new ideas and paint in new styles from day to day.

The design is a continuation of his mask from the previous season, the mask named SkullSoldiers... That was a design to show the horror of war...and here we dig even deeper in the horror of war... I see myself as much a storyteller as a painter. The whole mask is created with very scary feelings, and I did it with very calm, strange and unpleasant motifs, just as you woke up from a nightmare...

The logos are attached to the mask with stitches, just as the skull on the top is stitched... I love to paint a lot of details.

You're all welcome to check out the mask in the mask gallery.

Love to paint for you Steve!

Thank you all!

American Zombies is the name of Mason´s new lid

Columbus Blue Jackets

Today we have the pleasure to present the new mask of the Columbus Blue Jackets keeper Steve Mason. Steve told me he wanted something really, really scary, created in a new way... At that time I was watching a zombie movie when I painted, yes, I always watch movies when I paint... :-)

Zombies are so scary and creepy, so I came up with a very scary design theme with zombies, but in a new style, mixed with American theme and also Blue Jackets colors and graphics. Steve loved my ideas...

To get in the right zombie mode I watched all my favorite zombie movies when I painted. I am also a big fan of the TV serie Walking Dead, I both watch the serie and read the comic. My favorite zombie movies are Dawn of the dead, Shawn of the dead, 28 weeks and 28 months, just to name a few... :-) I always do a lot research before I start any artwork... :-)

I had so fun when I created the design. The design has a clear look from distance, but when you come closer you will discover more and more details and the design transforms in front of your eyes, and becomes a big bad zombie attack!

Check out the mask in the mask gallery, on Facebook or in the DAVEART App. Thank you for your interest.

Skull soldiers on Mason's new mask

Columbus Blue JacketsIt's so fun and creative to be Steve Mason's mask painter. He always wants new stuff and is always open to new ideas. I love to work as a chameleon, to change paint style to whatever suits the design theme.

This time Steve wanted something really scary to show the horror of war. But scary in a new way, not just attacking monsters... I love to think outside the box. I see myself as much a storyteller as a painter. My idea was to create a scary feeling all over the mask and I came up with this calm theme, calm in a scary and disturbing way. Just silent and scary, a new kind.

So on the left side an artwork with the theme of horror of war. Scary civil war skull soldiers give the design it's name ”SkullSoldiers”. As you can see I'm also inspired by horror movies and scary cartoons, and this is also a tribute to that.

The other side is a logo themed design, looks sharp from a distance, and when you come close you discover a new dimension of details. The side is painted like it is stitched, in a scary way. When you come even closer you will see that all areas are painted with dramatic lines to add even more scary and disturbing feelings.

Check out Mason’s new Blue Jackets mask

Columbus Blue Jackets
It was so creative and fun to create this NHL mask design for the Columbus Blue Jackets keeper Steve Mason. The design is for the third jersey, and we worked with the alternate colors and logo with the cannon to create a graphic clean design with strong contrasts.

Old school touch with the logo on one side, and an American Civil War theme on the other side with everything from fighting scenes and a soldier with the American flag, to a graphically created oil painting of Abe Lincoln in old fashion style. All weaved together to a different design in Blue Jackets style. Extreme detail work and 3-D effects in one. Thinking outside the box.

Check out the mask in the mask gallery or on our Facebook page. Or in the DAVEART App for iPhone, iPad and Android.

Mason's Lincoln design in realistic look

Columbus Blue Jackets
The NHL star Steve Mason's second design of the season just as the first one features Abraham Lincoln, but here I created him in a realistic look, in cool contrast to the first design with Abraham Lincoln in cartoon look as a super hero... Here we have switched style like a chameleon and created a quietly powerful tribute to Lincoln.

On one side I created a layout in blue tints with Lincoln, with portrait and Mount Rushmore. I also weaved in the statue which I created with brush in old school oil paint tech. The rest of the design is a speed-filled design breathing Columbus to a 100%, with extreme detail work and 3-D effects.

Abe as a super hero on Mason's new mask

Columbus Blue Jackets
We welcome the NHL star Steve Mason as new client! It will be so much fun and inspiring to paint your masks Steve! For this design Steve told me that he wanted cool cartoon characters with connection to the Blue Jackets. A blue soldier is ready to fight on one side, and on the other I created President Abe, the leader of the Blue Boys. And I painted him as a super hero...with mega big muscles and ready for action, no one will dare to mess with him...!

And as usual, lots of details, effects and 3-D depth, just like it should be on a mask of a NHL star painted by DAVEART. Check out Steve Mason's Columbus Blue Jackets mask design in the mask gallery or on our Facebook page! Soon there will come more designs for mr Mason, in a completely different style...
