Vokoun´s latest lid

Today we have the pleasure to present the Washington Capitals keeper Tomas Vokoun´s latest mask artwork. I am very proud to paint for Tomas and he was so satisfied with his earlier masks that I created for him so he wanted this one to be a continuation of the previous designs.

Same basic lines and details, from a distance it is a classic almost retro design with the Caps wings spreading out and strong contrasts and clear colors. But when you come closer it enters a new dimension of extreme detail work. Again the theme of the mask is The President Of the United States. Here and there all over the mask you will discover small artworks with the President and other details with that theme. I came up with the design idea this summer when I walked around our local lake, I created every detail in my mind. When I told Tomas my design ideas he immediately gave me green light to start.

Watch out Captain Ahab

Watch out Captain Ahab, these big bad whales are buddies with Moby Dick, and they look like they are ready to eat you up... Yes, this mask is named after the crazy Captain Ahab from Herman Melville´s classic book Moby Dick. I had so fun when I painted this Whales mask for Jerry Kuhn last year. I love the challenge of painting a clean and crisp design completely built on the team logos, but create it into something else, a design that tells a story, with lots and lots of details and 3-D effects to discover when you come closer.

The King´s Crown

The King´s Crown, that is the name of the New York Rangers keeper Henrik Lundqvist´s new mask, and it could not have a better name...

I´ve been working Henrik for more than 14 years now, and together we have created and evolved a completely unique mask style for him, and we evolve it from year to year. Henrik is very interested in his masks and we talk a lot and discuss every detail, it is so incredible exciting to create your mask look Henrik.

This new design is a continuation from Henrik´s previous designs and also from Henrik´s incredibly popular Winter Classic mask. Lots of bling bling glitter, and just as usual extreme detail work and DAVEART 3-D PaintTech and DAVEART Holographix FX.

Our goal was to create a design that delivers no matter what angle or distance you look at the mask from.

Ottawa legend Connell on Auld´s new mask

The Ottawa Senators keeper Alex Auld knew exactly what he wanted on his new mask, and when he told me I was really excited to get started. He wanted a tribute design to the Ottawa Senators legend The Ottawa Fireman, a.k.a. Alex Connell. All created in a worthy and old school style.

I love to create tribute designs and to change style from mask to mask. When I work I try to see myself as a movie director, it is my job to direct the design and make it tell the story and feeling the goalie wants. I love the challenge of creating in different styles from mask to mask and be as versatile as possible.

This design is created for Ottawa´s third jersey, and it is also a tribute to the town of Ottawa with the Rideau Canal Skateway and the Canadian Parliament.

Owuya´s Toronto mask

Today we have the pleasure to present Mark Owuya´s Toronto Maple Leafs mask. I have been working with Mark for many years and it is always so fun. This mask I made in the middle of the hot summer. It´s kind of a reincarnation from Mark´s previous masks that I created for him when he played with Djurgårdens IF. He was so happy with them with the big bold graphics with the team logos, with lots and lots of white ghost fire effects on the sides. And of course, lots and lots of details to discover all over the mask.

Martin Jones´ new Kings mask

Welcome to check out Martin Jones´ latest Los Angeles Kings mask. I love the challenge of creating clean and crisp designs that mixes two teams. In this case Los Angeles Kings and Manchester Monarchs, you find the lion head pop up on the side. Martin was so happy with his previous mask design so this new one is a clean continuation on his previous, but here it is created in black and white and silver colors.

And just as usual it´s totally packed of details, many of them you can only discover when you see it live.

More action in the Rocky Mountains on Varlamov´s new Colorado mask

Today we have the pleasure to present the Colorado Avalanche keeper Semyon Varlamov´s new mask. It is so exciting to be Semyon´s painter, he always wants designs with a lot of details, just what I love to do.

Semyon was so happy with his last mask so on his new mask he wanted a continuation, and the battle between Yeti and Frosty in the Rocky Mountains continues for sure... I can tell you this, I loved every minute when I created and painted this design. :-)

On the last mask Yeti used a snowball bazooka in his battle against Frosty... now he is trying a new weapon, and I think he is a bit inspired by the Terminator, cause now he comes with a badass rifle just like Terminator... But when Terminator rides a Harley, Yeti instead drives his customized YetiMobile, the Harley doesn´t work in snow... And he also has a Rambo bandana to look extra badass... :-)

But Frosty is not afraid to take the fight, he comes with great speed on his skis, taking protection behind his old school goalie mask... He has thrown away his carrot bazooka for an old hockey stick... And yes you see one more Frosty coming to attack, you see his carrot nose there... :-)

But someone is using the snowball bazooka cause the mask is hit in the face, again...snow is flying all over the place...

In the background you find a lot of details... One of the mountain tops are transformed into a top of the Vasilij Cathedral, and you also find some Russian jets in the sky, just to mention a few of all the details... :-)

Enroth´s new mask look

Today we have the pleasure to present a completely new mask look for my buddy Jhonas Enroth of the Buffalo Sabres.

It is so fun to paint for Jhonas, he is very interested in his masks and loves details, just as I do. I love to play with a wide range of different paint techniques, with everything from classic airbrush to old school brush and even crayons.

Usually Jhonas always wants a brickwall as a part of his designs. Now we´re testing something completely new, and we´re going back to basic. The two big B letters on the forehead of the mask are placed as the eyes of a buffalo and transforms the mask into a graphic Buffalo, and from distance it creates interesting lines. The rest is created with lots of old school effects and lots of details, mixed with top modern 3-D effects. On the sides as a funny detail you find Buffalo Bill created in old graphic style.

Nagle´s Tampa mask is possessed by an electrical lightning storm

I am very happy to present Tampa Bay Lightning´s Pat Nagle as a new member in our team. Check out his mask in the mask gallery, it was so fun to create and paint his 2 in 1 design. From a distance it´s a clean and classic Tampa design in total sync with the jerseys, and when you come closer a new dimension opens up in front of your eyes and the mask transforms into a stone mask breaking into pieces, and the mask is totally possessed by an electrical lightning storm.

Grubauer´s new Caps mask

Today we have the pleasure to present the new mask of Philipp Grubauer from the Washington Capitals system. Welcome to our team Philipp! Philipp wanted a really classic and clean design, with strong connections to the teams. One side is dedicated to the Capitals, and the other side to Stingrays with the logo as a swimming stingray with underwater scenes.

It was very fun to create this so called 2 in 1 design, the closer you get to the design the more details and 3-D effects you will discover,and a new design is created in front of your eyes. Some of the details you cannot even see in the photos...

Engren´s mask is repainted in front of your eyes

I had a really fun hot summer day last summer when I created and painted this design for the Nashville Predators goalie Atte Engren. Atte wanted a design that was a mix of Predators and Admirals...and I love to come up with new ideas... :) How about making the design as a classic Admirals design, that is repainted in front of your eyes into a Predators mask? I made some test drawings and it worked great, Atte loved the idea and I started. The yellow Predators colors are dripping and running all over the mask.
